How would my cell phone plan work in Russia?

At the moment I have a Verizon phone here in the U.S. (Idaho), but in September I moved to Moscow, Russia, babysitting for the family. I will be somewhere between 6 months to two years, and I thought, like a mobile phone that would work. Will my Verizon phone even work in Russia? I can not leave the country without being able to stay in touch with friends and family, but I had to buy a mobile phone plan, or is it still work? Thank you!

Phone does not work in Russia. You would not want that. On the phone the United States and the American plan in another country will cost more than the state. International calling expensive for what you use. Buy a laptop or computer to plan and use e-mail.
